Wildlife Tour Descriptions at Proyecto Asis

1. Wildlife Regular Tour

Proyecto Asis Wildlife Rescue Center is well worth the visit, even if you only have a short time in the region. During your visit, you will receive a brief introduction about Proyecto Asis from one of our trained naturalists. Then you will have the opportunity to explore the reserve with your guide to get to know each animal and their story. You will learn about why animal conservation is important, how it should be done, and what impact you are making while enjoying yourself with our friendly guides who will engage you and help you to think about conservation in a new way. You will go home with a greater knowledge of the local wildlife and have some amazing pictures to show your friends and family.
Recommended for all ages. Especially great for families with younger children.

Duration: up to 2 hours
Schedule: Monday to Saturday

Important Notes:

Our wildlife tours are offered in English or Spanish only (However, groups are not mixed, so guides will only speak one language). You need to specify what language of the ones available you need when booking.

If you are with someone who speaks a language other than English or Spanish and are able to translate for them, we appreciate that you do so in a manner that does not interrupt the tour for others.

2. Wildlife Tour + Volunteer

Proyecto Asis Wildlife Rescue Center is well worth the visit, even if you only have a short time in the region. On our Tour + Volunteer you will get the Wildlife Regular Tour plus a short volunteering component. During your visit, you will receive a brief introduction about Proyecto Asis from one of our trained naturalists. Then you will have the opportunity to explore the reserve with your guide to get to know each animal and their story. You will learn about why animal conservation is important, how it should be done, and what impact you are making while enjoying yourself with our friendly guides who will engage you and help you to think about conservation in a new way. Then you will have the opportunity to learn how to prepare food to increase engagement, take the food to the animals, create fun environmental enriching activities for them to enhance the daily routine of the animals, which will be the highlight of your visit. You will go home with a greater knowledge of the local wildlife and have some amazing pictures to show your friends and family.

3. Wildlife Full Day

Go beyond the typical tours! During your visit, you will receive a brief introduction about Proyecto Asis from one of our trained naturalists. This option offers you the opportunity to know our wildlife animals’ stories, you will prepare their food and feed them and later you will learn about the fascinating biology of the two species of sloths of Costa Rica.

You will be able to see wildlife up-close, animals such as toucans, macaws, monkeys, peccaries, coaties and other species.

This full day program includes time for you to help in a significant way. Whether you are making toys/enrichment activities for the animals diets, you will be able to immediately see the results of your work. You will go home with a greater knowledge of the local wildlife and have some amazing pictures to show your friends and family.

Recommended for all ages. Especially great for families with children.

Includes coffee break with snack in the morning. Lunch is not included. You will have a one-hour break for lunch. Please plan to bring a packed lunch, or to eat at a nearby restaurant.

4. One Night Homestay

Our One Night Homestay Costa Rica program is scheduled from Monday to Friday. This includes the Wildlife Full Day Program mentioned right above.

This all inclusive homestay and tour allows you to have a true Costa Rican experience. The family that you will stay with has been carefully screened and will be hosting you and provide you with authentic Costa Rican meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and hospitality.

Duration: 1 day.

Includes:

Introduction to Proyecto Asis Wildlife Rescue Center and the host family.
Guided tour to see the animals we care for, a coffee break and then you help prepare the animals’ diets and help us distribute their food to the animals. After that we take you to meet you host family to have lunch. We bring you back to our sloth center where you will learn about the sloths and will conclude with the opportunity to see them up-close. After this experience we will take you back home to enjoy a delicious typical Costa Rican dinner and enjoy an interchange of culture. The next day you will also be given breakfast and this is how this program ends.
